A Morongo Valley man was arrested early Tuesday morning after police say a heated argument between two gamers ended with vandalism and assault with a deadly weapon.

Steven Lee Ingersoll, 24, and Gregory Allen Murphy, 26 and from Yucca Valley, had sent messages back and forth on their gaming consoles over the last few weeks, reports Z107.7.

As the argument escalated, Ingersoll got into his car and drove to Murphy’s residence on Bannock Trail at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Once there, authorities say Ingersoll smashed a window of a car belonging to Murphy’s girlfriend.

Murphy and his girlfriend heard the window break and ran out to confront Ingersoll – who then intentionally struck Murphy with his car.

Murphy was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with undisclosed injuries.

Ingersoll was later arrested at his house for felony vandalism and assault with a deadly weapon.
