It’s the Holiday Season and that means plenty of Christmas activities and events in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. As the desert has so many individual cities, that also means quite a few tree lighting ceremonies. Here are the details on them.
When: Friday, November 30 – 5:15 PM
Where: 555 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs
What: Mayor Buzzkill and the Palm Springs City Council will join Santa Claus for the city’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting. The event, at Frances Stevens Park, will include holiday caroling and free hot cocoa and cookies. You can then come back to Palm Springs the following day for the Festival of Lights parade.
When: Friday, November 30 – 6 PM
Where: The Amphitheater at the River at Rancho Mirage – 71800 Highway 111, Rancho Mirage
What: There will be music from 50 (!) tuba players in the center’s amphitheater plus a tree lighting.
When: Saturday, December 1, 2018 – 4:30– 7:00 PM
Where: Indio City Hall, 100 Civic Center Mall, Indio
What: The free event will include a tree lighting, music, and a visit from Santa Claus.
Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
When: December 2 – 5:30 PM
Where: The Mountain Station at the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
What: The Desert Flippers will serve as 2018’s celebrity tree lighters at the event which also will include music from the Palm Springs High School Madrigals & String Quartet.
The city will host a two-day celebration with a tree lighting party and parade. This year’s theme is based in space. “A Galactic Holiday” will kick off on Wednesday, December 5, at Coachella City Hall for a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 pm complete with entertainment, holiday train rides, free food and both Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Then, Friday, December 7, the city will hold its annual Holiday Parade at 6 p.m – with the route heading south on Cesar Chavez Street then east on Sixth Street, before wrapping up at Veterans Park – where there will be carnival rides, food vendors, music and an ice slide.

What: The event will include a visit from Santa, the tree lighting, and, of course, you can hashtag the whole thing with #doyouevenlaquintabro
Desert Hot Springs
When: December 8 – 5:45 PM
Where: 65950 Pierson Boulevard, Desert Hot Springs
What: The tree lighting will take place the same night as the city’s evening parade with the event kicking off at 5:45 pm at the intersection of Palm Drive and Two Bunch Palms Trail.
