Your grandma might win a trip to Palm Springs this week from ‘Wheel of Fortune’

The Palm Springs tourism people – who seem to have more money than they know what to do with these days – have teamed up with Pat and Vanna to give Wheel of Fortune viewers, who have an average age of 65+, a chance to win a trip to the Coachella Valley and, good news: it’s that time of year when there are deals and coupons, which is perfect since, as she tells you every time you see her, she and your grandpa are on a fixed income.

In order to play, your grandma will have to watch The Wheel every night this week (not a problem) and then register on the Wheel of Fortune website (technology is an issue for her, so maybe you can give her a hand) and then come back to the website every night (plenty of time on her hands) and enter to win by logging back in (uh oh).

Luckily, most of the text on the Wheel of Fortune website is pretty big – and she should like that.

Pat and Vanna were also on hand during the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament in March and filmed some segments which will air on the game show this week – which will surely delight your grandma, assuming she didn’t get too far into that bottle of Chardonney during her 3:30 pm dinner and fall asleep at 6:30.

  1. Wow! Ageism in full bloom.

I enjoy your snarkiness when it’s directed at the foibles of local politicos and other deserving characters, but this was just ugly. I’ve noticed that ageism is a thing with you, which is kind of ironic considering your potential audience in the Coachella Valley.

I’m 58, and I generally enjoy your musings. Now I’m wondering if I’m not supposed to be a fan. What is the age range you want to attract? I’m happy to take my daily visits that add to your revenue elsewhere.
