Driving Palm Canyon Drive through downtown Palm Springs is usually a pain in the ass. Cruising the stretch means you have to deal with jaywalkers, tourists taking forever to parallel park, and out-of-state drivers stopping in the middle of the road for seemingly no reason at all. This week, a new issue has arisen: construction. So yeah, you may want to just drive around for a bit.

According to the city, there will be a construction closure on South Palm Canyon Drive between Tahquitz Canyon Way and Arenas Road at the La Plaza shopping center – as crews install safety bollards to the area – which, once installed, are intended to enhance pedestrian safety.
The area will have traffic reduced to one lane between the hours of 7 am and 4 pm, Monday through Friday, from July 16 to August 3.

After hours and on weekends, Palm Canyon will still be reduced, but will have two southbound lanes open.
Good luck!
