Woman arrested for setting her Yucca Valley home on fire

Police arrested a Yucca Valley woman on Tuesday after they say she intentionally set her house on fire.

Firefighters were called to the home on Cherokee Trail about 1 pm on Tuesday, reports Z107.7. When they arrived they found Catherine Ibling on the front porch trying to put out flames with a garden hose.

A sheriff’s deputy arrested Ibling, who was dressed in a bikini and smeared with soot, and led her to his patrol car, notes the Hi-Desert Star.  Firefighters then tore down smoldering insulation and chased hot spots inside her house.  They were able to put out the flames in about 20 minutes.

Ibling, 32, allegedly told a roommate and her husband that she was going to light the house on fire, according to Z107.7.
