Woman arrested for stealing jewelry from La Quinta homes

An Indio woman was arrested after police say she stole jewelry from multiple homes in La Quinta.

After investigating a theft on Desert Rose Drive, police were alerted to additional victims in the area. During the investigation, some of the stolen jewelry was located at local pawn shops, according to a news release.

A search warrant was served at a home in Indio and Maricela Alvarez-Limon, 42 of Indio, was arrested for grand theft. During the search warrant, Ruben Mercado Alvarez, 22-years-old of Indio, was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

The La Quinta Special Enforcement Team is asking anyone with additional information to contact Deputy Iniguez at the Thermal Sheriff’s Station by calling (760)-863-8990.
