Woman arrested after dead dog, other pets found in 113 degree car

A 42-year-old woman was arrested Sunday in Ontario after police say she left three small pets in her car.

Authorities found the pets abandoned in a parked car which had a temperature of 113 degrees inside, reports the LA Times. Officers smashed the windows and rescued a dog and a cat which were “under heavy distress”. Another dog was discovered dead.

Jennifer Arriaga was arrested for animal cruelty.

The dog and cat will continue to be treated and cared for at the Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA pending the investigation.
