Whitewater Preserve closed after a calf was killed by feral dogs

The Whitewater Preserve was shut down this weekend after three feral dogs attacked a herd of cattle, reports The Desert Sun.

A calf was killed in the attack and The Riverside County Department of Animal Services has been notified about the feral dogs. An employee told the newspaper that calling in someone from U.S. Fish and Wildlife was not possible because of the government shutdown.

The preserve also cancelled a bird walk scheduled for Tuesday and expects to closed for at least one more day.
