Weird. The soap star, who totally lives in the desert, raised most her money from outside the valley.

Kimberlin Brown Pezler, a soap star who probably wouldn’t be the best person to ask where Coachella Valley locals go, absolutely destroyed Dan Ball, another former tv person turned candidate, with the first release of campaign donation totals last week. But, as it would turn out, most of those donations came from people who don’t actually live in the Coachella Valley, reports the Desert Sun.

Kimberlin Brown Pezler, a soap opera actress who recently moved to Palm Springs from Fallbrook in San Diego County, raised more than $175,000 since launching her campaign in October. More than 90 percent of those donations came from outside the 36th District, which stretches from San Jacinto to Blythe.

In contrast, former KMIR anchor Dan Ball raised a little over $15,000 in the same time period. However, more than 75 percent of the money Ball brought in came from within the district, according to campaign finance filings released by the Federal Elections Commission.

Marc Troast, a representative of the Ball campaign, said he thought the former news anchor had more traction among local voters since Brown Pelzer had only recently moved into the area.

Now, to be fair, 10% of $175,000 is $17,500 which would still be more for Brown Pelzer than the $11,250 Ball has in local contributions – not to mention, $8,100 of Ball’s contributions (over half) came from just three donors who all contributed $2,700.  Plus it’s not like any of this matters anyway since incumbent Raul Ruiz has all the money, party momentum, and always wins on the most important issue: owning a car without power windows.
