An employee, who was off the clock, punched a homeless man at Carls Jr. in Desert Hot Springs on Wednesday.

Employees told KMIR that it all started after the restaurant refused to serve the man as he was not wearing a shirt.

The man who threw the punch said that he did it because the homeless man appeared to be threatening his girlfriend.

A witness said the homeless man was unconscious for almost 10 minutes before he walked away with a bloody face.

Desert Hot Springs Police told KMIR the incident may have been assault and battery, but there is no open investigation.
