Rain falling in Palm Springs means three things will happen: 1) everyone grabs their phones to post about it on Instagram, 2) someone breaks out a large blow up animal to be on the news, 3) Vista Chino is closed due to flooding. At least one of those is planned to get fixed, but it is going to take a while.

Palm Springs Mayor Robert Moon took a break from driving all around town to buy shoes to announce that the city received a grant of $7 million for the bridge on KESQ Tuesday. He also discussed how much the bridge will cost and where the money is coming from.

“This bridge is actually costing about an estimated $86.8 million dollars, and 88.53% of that is coming from federal government. in fact, a lot of the preparation work, design work has come from the city already.”

The project is expected to break ground in 2021 and be completed in 2023.
