A Facebook video posted over the weekend appears to show maggots in the food prep area of a Subway restaurant in Indio.
“These are the liners subway uses to defrost the bread on, when brought to the managers attention he said he was just going to wash them because they are too expensive to replace and told his employees to not mention this to anyone,” Abel Coronado posted Sunday. “This is the Subway On Fred warring (sic) and Jefferson.”
The owner of the restaurant issued a statement to KMIR stating that they got rid of the liners and that “this was an isolated incident that occurred more than 5 weeks ago and was corrected immediately.”
The TV station also notes that Coronado’s sister was removed from her position at the Subway restaurant four days before the video was posted.
