A man wanted in connection with a homicide in Utah last month was arrested Tuesday morning in Palm Springs.

Palm Springs Police responded to a welfare check for a female who was staying with a male at the Motel 6 on East Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs about 9:45 am, according to a news release from the department. The caller believed the woman was in danger and that the man she was with may be wanted for murder.

The people in the room first refused to come out when officers requested it, but after several minutes, a man and a woman exited the room.

The man was identified as 36 year old Shaun Eugene Fleming of Utah, who was identified as being wanted by the Taylorsville City Police Department for Homicide.  He was arrested without incident.

Taylorsville Police say that Fleming threatened to shoot a 4-year-old before killing the child’s father on December 10.

The woman was not injured and has not been arrested.
