Two women accused of burglarizing cars in Joshua Tree National Park

Two Yucca Valley women were arrested on Tuesday after a park ranger suspected they were breaking into vehicles and stealing valuables in Joshua Tree National Park.

The ranger suspected the women had been burglarizing cars in the Indian Cove campground area and took Ashley Gonzalez, 35, and Michelle Towne, 27, into custody, according to Z107.7. The park service found that their vehicle was filled with stolen property and contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department.

Gonzalez was arrested for investigation of being in possession of stolen property. Town was cited and released for misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine.

The stolen property was returned.
