Two teens arrested with stolen gun, meth in Coachella

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has announced the arrest of two 16-year-olds in the city of Coachella after police say they were in possession of drugs and a stolen gun.

The Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Caesar Chavez and Fourth Street on Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release. During the traffic stop, Gang Task Force Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located a loaded Glock 9mm handgun and a loaded Glock .40 caliber handgun. Further investigation revealed the Glock 9mm handgun to be stolen.

Gang Task Force Officers also located approximately six grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Two 16-year-old juveniles were arrested at the scene.

The first juvenile was charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Minor in Possession of Stolen Handgun. The second juvenile was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine. Both juveniles were transported to Juvenile Hall in Indio and booked.
