A woman and her male getaway driver were arrested on Wednesday after police say she pepper sprayed and robbed a clerk at Pawnshield Fine Jewelry & Loan in Palm Desert.

Jennifer Andrews, 36, of Yucaipa, and Richard Gonzales, 28, of San Bernardino, were caught not long after the 12:34 pm robbery at the store on Technology Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Dept.

Police say Andrews entered the pawn shop and pepper sprayed the clerk. She then fled the store with jewelry.

As deputies responded to the scene, they spotted a vehicle fleeing. Deputies were able to stop the vehicle, and a search turned up pepper spray and jewelry from the store, say police.

Andrews and Gonzales were booked into county jail in Indio on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
