Twentynine Palms man arrested for attempting to hit deputy with prosthetic leg

A 49-year-old Twentynine Palms man was arrested Friday after police say he took off his prosthetic leg and tried to hit a Sheriff’s deputy with it.

Police were called to Adobe Road and Play Vista Drive a little after 5 pm for a report of a man who was lying in the road, according to Z107.7.

The deputy could smell alcohol and tried to engage with the man, who began cursing and then removed his prosthetic leg and swung it at the deputy.

The deputy grabbed the leg and took it away from the suspect, then arrested the man for investigation of assault on a peace officer. The man was later booked for drunk and disorderly.
