Police discovered a puppy with drugs in his system during a raid at a Tustin motel.

The raid took place in March, according to ABC 7. Two people were arrested after a large amount of drugs were found in the motel room.

Also found was a terrier mix puppy named “Bubba” who was found to have heroin, methamphetamine and nicotine in his system.

Bubba was taken to Orange County Animal care where he has been treated for drug addiction and, after 2 months, authorities say he is doing much better.

Joshua West, 40, was arrested for an outstanding warrant, a parole violation, and possession of drug paraphernalia, heroin and methamphetamine, according to CBS-LA.

“This strikes me as pretty horrible,” Tustin police Lt. Robert Wright told the tv station. “This is the first time we’ve ever heard of someone reporting that an animal has been under the influence.”

Police say they will be filing animal cruelty charges against his former owners – in addition to the charges from the raid.

As soon as Bubba is fully recovered, animal services will begin a search for a forever home for the cute pup.
