Tu Madres Cantina and Grill is now open in Indio

The team behind Cork & Fork and Heirloom Craft Kitchen have opened Tu Madres Cantina and Grill, which offers a unique spin on traditional Mexican and Baja Style Cuisine in Indio.

The restaurant, located next door to Heirloom in the Ralph’s Center on Jefferson and Avenue 50 at the border of Indio and La Quinta, quietly opened up this week and is serving a menu filled with items like tacos, quesadillas, burritos, enchiladas, tamales, seafood, and more.

As for the cantina at Tu Madres, there’s a full bar with daily specials and a happy hour.  The drink menu includes over half a dozen margaritas, a plethora of mezcal and tequila cocktails, stateside cocktails, wine, beer, and you can turn any beer into a Michelada for a $1.50 (I opted for the Golden Road Mango Cart and I wasn’t at all disappointed).

The wife and I stopped in on Thursday to grab the “Salsa Trio,” some carne asada tacos, the “El Gringo Quesadilla” (goat cheese, bacon, spinach, grilled onions, baja crema, mango habanero, and sauce), and a couple of drinks.

As for price, well, our tab came out to $43 – not too a shabby for two drinks, an app, and two dishes.

You can check out the menu here.

The interior of Tu Madres is nicely decorated and, even though the place just opened, the staff was great and so was their service.

The dining area is not huge – and you know how new places tend to get super-packed once they open, so you might want to make a reservation on Open Table just to make sure you get it.
