Tom Hanks will receive the Icon Award at the annual Palm Springs International Film Awards Gala.
The festival, which is given $350,000 in taxpayer dollars by the City of Palm Springs annually, will hold its gala on January 2.
For those who lacked the sufficient funds to get into the gala (tickets are$350 to $2,000), the city is usually kind enough to set some bleachers up, behind a fence and across the street, where you might be lucky enough to see Hanks and other celebs get out of their limos.
