The Bump & Grind will be closed Wednesday morning because of Donald Trump

The Coachella Valley’s most popular hiking trail, the Bump & Grind in Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage, will be closed for nine hours on Wednesday as President Donald Trump has vowed to hike to the top in under an hour…nah, just kidding. He’s playing golf with super-wealthy people at nearby Porcupine Creek and, you know, they have to close all of the crap nearby because of Secret Service stuff.

From the FB post in Friends of Desert Mountain Volunteers:

**TRAIL CLOSURE ALERT**

PALM DESERT – PRESIDENTIAL VISIT TEMPORARILY CLOSING BUMP & GRIND TRAIL

The Bump & Grind Trail, including the trailhead behind Target in Palm Desert, will be closed from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, as part of the security preparations for President Trump’s visit to the area.

The trail is expected to reopen to the public after 2 p.m.

Hikers are encouraged to utilize some of the other many area trails during the closure. For more information about and access to trails, please visit the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center located at 51500 Highway 74 in Palm Desert or call 760-862-9984.

And while some hikers might be slightly miffed that they are unable to hike because some rich folks are ponying up to play golf with Trump, just remember that he is choosing to come to the desert despite its junkyard appearance and the increased chance of windmill cancer, so maybe do The Cross hike instead.
