Sylvester Stallone will be in Indio on Sunday, January 29 to emcee the dedication of a polo field in honor of General George S. Patton.
Patton, one of the greatest and the most colorful generals in U.S. Army history, was also an avid polo player.
To honor Patton’s career and his love of the sport, the Empire Polo Club is naming its main Sunday Polo Field the “The General Patton Field.”
The field will be adorned with a new flagpole and plaque honoring General Patton, which will be unveiled during the ceremony.
Stallone will host the ceremony and Helen Patton, the granddaughter of General George S. Patton Jr., will speak.
After the ceremony, the finals of the United States Polo Association (USPA) General George S. Patton, Jr. Polo Tournament will be played with matches scheduled for noon and 2 pm.
Admission is $20 per car or $25 for VIP tickets.
