A man was arrested in Desert Hot Springs early Tuesday morning after a 12 hour standoff with authorities.
Jose Castillo, a 37-year-old from Indio had barricaded himself inside of a home near 13th Street and United Road at around 2 p.m. on Monday after authorities had tried to arrest him. The suspect was believed to be armed and refused to surrender.

The house was surrounded by Sheriff’s and SWAT Team members and at around 2 a.m., Castillo ran from the home and was apprehended and released to the custody of U.S. Marshals.
The SWAT team is now moving a battering ram into position at the house where a suspect wanted by the US Marshals has barricaded himself inside.

Castillo was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, narcotics violations, possession of a stolen vehicle and evading arrest. His bail was set at $1 million.
