Sunnylands is showing 1950s sci-fi flicks on the Great Lawn this September

Sunnylands is bringing back its Films on the Great Lawn series with a trio of 1950s sci-fi thrillers this September.

Presented in partnership with the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the screenings will take place on three consecutive Fridays in September and are free to the public.

Here’s the schedule:

Sept. 13: Invasion of the Body Snatchers – A small-town doctor learns that the population of his community is being replaced by alien duplicates.

Sept. 20: The War of the Worlds – A small town in California is attacked by Martians, beginning a worldwide invasion.

Sept. 27: The Thing from Another World! – Scientists and U.S. Air Force officials fight a bloodthirsty alien at a remote arctic outpost.

Gates open at 7 pm, with all movies starting at 7:30.  You are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and small picnics. Large coolers, alcohol, smoking, and pets are not permitted. Carpooling is advised.
