Students at the University of Texas at Austin are protesting a new law that allows for more guns on campus by “strapping gigantic swinging dildos to our backpacks.”

The #CocksNotGlocks campaign was set up by student Jessica Jin on Facebook. “You’re carrying a gun to class? Yeah well I’m carrying a HUGE DILDO,” Jin proclaims in the group’s description. “Just about as effective at protecting us from sociopathic shooters, but much safer for recreational play.”

So far, almost 5,000 people have registered for the event – which is to take place on Aug. 24, 2016. The date is the first day of the fall semester when the new law goes into effect.

Senate Bill 11 allows guns within buildings on public college campuses throughout the state.  Prior to the new law, concealed weapons could be carried around campus – but were not allowed inside campus buildings.

Jin created the event on the same day that one student was killed and another wounded in a shooting at Texas Southern University.

“ANYBODY can participate in solidarity: alum, non-UT students, people outside of Texas,” she wrote on the group’s page. “Come one dildo, come all dildos.”
