Sting operation leads to two citations for selling alcohol to minors in Cathedral City

Two store clerks were cited for selling alcohol to minors as a part of a recent sting operation.

Cathedral City Police ran the operation Monday and targeted at least 10 alcohol license-holders in the city, according to City News Service. Two workers, one from the Circle K Market on Ramon Road and another from the AM/PM on Date Palm Drive, were arrested after selling alcohol to minor decoys working with officials.

Those caught selling alcohol to minors face a minimum fine of $250, and / or 24 to 32 hours of community service for a first violation.

The ABC will also take administrative action against the alcoholic beverage license of the business where alcohol was sold to a minor.  Penalties can include a fine as wells as a suspension or permanent revocation of the license.
