If you have been on Facebook the last couple of days you have probably seen someone you know share a story that the new Star Wars movie would be filming in Palm Springs.  The story is bogus.

The article, posted on WRPT16.com – which calls itself a “fantasy news site” with most articles being “satire or pure fantasy” – stated:

Writer and director Rian Johnson is said to have personally chosen the location and will need the help of a large number of extras from Palm Springs and the surrounding area.

The fake news story was shared by many on Facebook and even picked up by a quite a few local radio stations – but, and sorry to break this news, not everything posted on the internet is true.

Plus, only cool people like James Bond get to be extras in Star Wars movies.
