The Palm Desert cross is a pretty cool landmark for the south side of the city whether you are checking it out at night from afar or spending part of your day hiking up to it. Unfortunately, it appears that someone vandalized the large cross this week.

In photos posted to social media this week, the lights on the bottom portion of the cross appears to have been smashed.

According to St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, an electrical contractor will need to install new bulbs, covers, wiring and fixtures. The church says they have a supply of bulbs and covers, but the contractor will need to purchase wiring and fixtures to complete the repairs.

Donations to repair the cross are being taken by the church which can be reached at 760-346-2697.
