So you may have forgotten about Sizzler – which, to the surprise to many, is still open! Also a surprise, there is a National Cheese Toast Day (because of course there is) in the U.S. on September 15th. But hey, that means you get free cheese toast.
From noon to 2 p.m., you can get a free slice of cheese toast at Sizzler without buying anything at all. Sure it will be far from filling, but it is free and it is cheese toast.
Sizzler dishes out 12,333,024 slices of its cheese toast every year. Sizzler USA’s Cheese Toast Master (which is a job my guidance counselor failed to tell me existed), Forbes Collins, has worked for Sizzler since 1978 and has prepared Cheese Toast in four countries (United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) and he estimates he has enjoyed more than 16,000 slices so far in his career (what a life!).
Sizzler has set up a website for its cheese toast which includes a countdown to when you can get your free cheese toast and a recipe to make your own cheese toast at home. Just remember, if you make it at home, you won’t be able to do this…
