Things to do this September in Palm Springs

September in Palm Springs is a crazy month.  It always starts out with an insanely hot Labor Day Weekend, but then, by the end of the month, things just might be nice enough to go outside again…well, at least at night.  Here are the concerts and events taking place in September in Palm Springs

Purple Reign – September 1

The highly acclaimed Purple Reign – the Prince Tribute Show hits the stage at the Show at Agua Caliente Casino on Saturday, September 1 for an 8pm performance.  Tickets run $20 to $35 for the concert which is sure to include Prince hits like “When Doves Cry,” “Purple Rain,” and “Little Red Corvette.”

Luis Miguel – September 7

Luis Miguel will be performing a concert in September in the Palm Springs area

The Latin America icon, often referred to as El Sol de México (The Sun of Mexico), is coming to Rancho Mirage this September. He is widely regarded by many as the most successful artist in Latin American history, having found success in a wide range of musical styles, including pop, ballads, boleros, tangos, jazz, big band and mariachi.  Tickets begin at $175.

Martina McBride – September 8

Martina McBride will perform a country concert in the Palm Springs area in September

She has sold 18 million albums to date, including 20 Top 10 singles and six #1 hits.   The four-time CMA Vocalist of the Year, author, and chef (yup, two cookbooks to prove it) comes to the Palm Springs area in September with a show at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino’s Special Events Center.   Tickets for the show run $39 to $79.

TLC & En Vogue – September 15

Two of the best-selling American girl-groups of all time are teaming up for a night of music and not chasing waterfalls at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.  Tickets for the double feature are $49 to $89.

Tejano Festival – September 22

The 2nd Annual Tejano Festival will take place in Cathedral City’s downtown area and will include performances by Los Badd Boyz del Valle, Michael Longoria y Conjunto Jamm, Chalito Zapata y Los Traviesos, Flavio Longoria y Conjunto Kingz, Impozzible.  There will also be activities for kids, food, and more.  Admission and parking is free, but you can also reserve a VIP table for $120.

B52s and Culture Club – September 28

Boy George And Culture Club, The B-52s, and the Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey head to Cabazon on Friday, September 28 for an 8 pm show at Morongo Casino Resort Spa.  Tickets to see the three acts begin at $79.

Styx – September 28

Styx will perform a concert in the Palm Springs area

Styx will return to Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage to rock The Show.  The band behind hits like “Lady,” “Come Sail Away,” and “Renegade” will perform an 8 pm show – with tickets ranging from $55 – $85.

Mel Brooks – September 29

The comedy legend behind films like Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, and Spaceballs makes a stop into Rancho Mirage to perform at The Show at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa.  Tickets for the event run $75 to$145.

Chris Janson – September 29

The singer who is proficient in both the guitar and harmonica will perform his hits “Better I Don’t,” “Power of Positive Drinkin’,” “Fix a Drink,” during his 8pm show on September 29th at 8 p.m. in the Spotlight Showroom.  Admission is $40 to $60.

Alright, so this is an hour west of Palm Springs, but close enough – plus it’s a three-day weekend, so you can afford the extra time spent driving. Tickets start at $20.
