Security guard arrested for running over pedestrian in Palm Springs

A security guard was arrested after the Palm Springs Police Chief says he spotted him running over a pedestrian.

According to a news release, Chief Reyes was headed out of town about 6:45 am on Saturday morning. On his drive, he saw an argument between a security guard in a marked vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Stevens Road and Indian Canyon.

Reyes says he saw the security guard pass the pedestrian, make a U-turn, and then drive right toward the pedestrian, running them over. The Chief called in the incident and caught up to the security guard, who was arrested.

Police saw the pedestrian will survive his injuries – the extent of which were not released.

Jalen Gilmer, 23, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
