A Riverside man calling himself a “Doomsday Prepper” pleaded guilty in federal court to being a felon illegally in possession of the weaponry on Monday. During a search of his hime in June, he was found with 23 firearms, thousand of rounds of ammunition, silencers, stun guns, body armor, and a flare launcher.

Hector Mariscal’s home on Magnolia Avenue was searched by authorities in June. Mariscal admitted to police that he had previous felony convictions for burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm in the 1990s and was not allowed to own a firearm.

Mariscol told investigators he purchased most of his weapons at swap meets, reports the Press Enterprise.

“You’d be surprised what you can find at a swap meet,” the affidavit said he told investigators.

He faces up to 10 years in prison.

“Doomsday Preppers” airs on the National Geographic Channel. It features people who are preparing for the end of the world.
