Broguiere’s Dairy, makers of that tasty milk that still comes in glass bottles, might be forced out to make room for a proposed railroad underpass in Montebello.

“We built a real loyal clientele base here and again my grandfather started this place in 1920. I don’t want to leave,” Broguiere’s Dairy owner Ray Broguiere told ABC 7.

Broguiere claims that the city’s Corridor Grade Separation project will ruin his business. He says that originally the city wanted to relocate his dairy to 100 feet from its existing spot, but have since changed plans to something that does not work for him.

“They’ll put the underpass here and build me a 300-foot driveway coming in off Mines Avenue, which is ridiculous,” Broguiere told the tv station. “I’m frustrated, you bet I’m angry.”

Broguiere said that he believes the city is trying to force him out of business, but city officials claim they are still trying to work things out.

“The project is not approved yet. It’s yet to be voted on and approved,” Jack Hadjinian, a Montebello councilman, told CBS 2.

“We’re certain that he’s going to be impacted, so we have to decide, do we kind of alter his business? Do we relocate it or does he go away? But that’s his choice. It’s up to him,” Hadjinian said.

Plans for the project have not been finalized and Hadjinian says there’s still time to work out an agreement.

Hopefully something gets worked out, because that Broguiere’s egg nog is the best!
