At least one person is dead following a crash Monday morning on Highway 74 in Palm Desert.
The collision happened about 7:30 am near Haystack Road, according to The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the Desert Sun, Thereseem Smith, 65, was struck by a pickup truck while she was walking. The Palm Desert resident was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said that the driver of the pickup truck crossed the northbound lanes and drove onto the sidewalk where Smith stood. It is not yet known why the truck crossed over lanes.
The truck’s driver, a 61-year-old Palm Desert man, was unresponsive when sheriff’s deputies found him in his vehicle. He was taken the hospital.
