Police investigating false bomb threat at Palm Springs Kimpton Rowan

Police have deemed downtown Palm Springs safe after a bomb threat at the Kimpton Rowan hotel on Wednesday night forced the closure of a road outside the property for several hours.

Police say a man entered the hotel lobby at about 8:30 pm and told employee’s that there was an explosive device inside his car, which was parked in the valet area.

The Riverside County Explosive Ordnance Detection team was called to the hotel, on Tahquitz Canyon Way, and they determined that the area was safe. All roads in the area were reopened about 3 am.

An investigation is underway to determine what led to the bomb threat.
