Perez Hilton would love a Palm Springs Star

The Palm Springs Walk of Stars is a collection of plaques around the downtown area including the names of about 20% of people you might have heard of and the other 80% names of people who could fork over ten to fifteen grand for one. The city hopes that transferring management of the stars will help repair the image of the Palm Springs Walk of Stars and plan to tighten down the rules on who should be “honored” with the chance to pay $15,000 for their own block of concrete for people to mostly ignore and kids to spill their ice cream on as they stroll down Palm Canyon Drive. So who will be the first person to get a star with the new system in place? Well, we have our first volunteer.

Blogger Perez Hilton tweeted that he would love a Palm Springs Star this week. Hilton had initially tweeted his displeasure that “web celebs” aren’t eligible for a Hollywood Star, but movie stars, musicians, and Guy Fieri are.

A fan recommended that Hilton instead look to get a Palm Springs Star and he was all for it.

Now you might be asking, does Hilton have a connection to Palm Springs?  I dunno.  Maybe.  But, perhaps the more important question is: does he have the cash or know the know the local gas station king?  Well…

So there you go. The ball is in your court, Palm Springs Chamber.
