Pedestrian check in La Quinta leads to discovery of 1/2 pound of heroin: police

A pedestrian check in La Quinta led to the arrest of an Indio man after police say they found a half-pound of heroin in his possession.

The La Quinta Special Enforcement Team conducted a pedestrian check on Avenida La Torrres at about 2:46 pm, according too a news release. Francisco Javier Lopez, 46-years-old of Indio, was placed under arrest after the discovery of drug paraphernalia.

During the arrest, it was discovered Lopez was in possession of approximately one-half pound of heroin, with the intent to sale, say police. A search warrant was served on his vehicle, and additional paraphernalia was located and seized.

Lopez was booked at the county jail in Indio.
