Parents Unhappy to Find CA Drive-In Theater Showing 50 Shades Within View of SpongeBob Movie

Parents who brought their kids to see the new SpongeBob movie in The Bay Area got a bit of a surprise this weekend, “Fifty Shades of Gray” showing on a nearby screen – clearly visible to anyone and everyone in the parking lot.

The drive-in has two screens pointing in opposite directions – something Deborah Powell learned when she took her family to Concord’s West Wind Solano Drive-In to see “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water” on Sunday night.

The family pulled into their spot for SpongeBob but then she told KTVU how things were a bit uncomfortable when they noticed the screen behind them:

“At the time, there was a woman being slapped, naked, bound up,” explained Powell. “So we had to have our children close their eyes. I could see another car behind us that had children in there with their eyes closed.”

Powell complained to the manager who was apologetic and said there have been other complaints from parents.

No word on if the theater plans on making any changes.
