Palm Springs: Woman Escapes After Ex Kidnaps and Assaults Her in Car

Palm Springs Police have arrested a man after he allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and beat her in his car Friday night.

Police say the suspect, 36-year-old Jeffrey George Woodfield from Palm Springs, forced the woman into his car sometime before 6 p.m. Friday evening on the 1700 block of east Vista Chino.

Police say Woodfield, the victim’s ex-boyfriend, then drove the woman to the Whitewater Rest Stop, physically beating her along the way.

When Woodfield stopped at the rest stop, police say the victim got out of the car and called 911 on her cell phone.

Woodfield was found about half a mile west of the rest stop stop and was arrested on multiple charges, including kidnapping, terrorist threats, and robbery. He is being held without bail.

The victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

On 3/20/2015 at about 6:09PM, the Palm Springs Police Department was sent to the westbound White Water Rest Stop located off Interstate 10 regarding a domestic dispute/kidnapping incident.

When Officers arrived at the location, they learned the victim had been forced into a vehicle by the suspect in the 1700 block of East Vista Chino. The suspect was the victim’s ex-boyfriend. The suspect drove away with the victim in the car against her will. While driving, the suspect battered the victim and drove out of the City of Palm Springs to the White Water Rest Stop. While at that location, the victim was able to exit the vehicle and call for help by dialing 911 on her cellular phone.

The suspect was later located about a half a mile west of the rest stop on Interstate 10 in the vehicle. The suspect was ultimately arrested and transported to Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries she sustained during this incident.
