Palm Springs rental car returned with grenade inside

Employees of a rental car company at the Palm Springs International Airport discovered a grenade inside a returned vehicle on Tuesday.

Palm Springs Police shared a photo of the grenade on Instagram:

The device was discovered in the vehicle about 12:30 pm according to KESQ. The Riverside County Sheriff Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit was called to inspect the grenade and the area was rendered safe about 2 pm.

The rental car company was not named and no details were given about who was the last person to rent the car.
