Palm Springs Police searching for owner of pit bull that killed Chihuahua in park

The Palm Springs Police Department is investigating the death of a Chihuahua that was attacked by a pit bull in a Palm Springs park on Friday.

According to the department, the attack happened in Demuth Park about 7:30 pm when the larger dog attacked the smaller canine who was being walked by a family member of the dog’s owner. The department was notified of the attack on Sunday.

In a statement posted to Facebook, the department stresses that “the owner of the pit bull may be unaware of the injuries suffered in the attack and is not wanted for any criminal violations at this time.”

The pit bull’s owner is described as white, in his mid-50s, about 5-foot-8 with a slender build. He was wearing a beige baseball cap, dark green shirt, khaki shorts and carrying a wooden cane.
