The Palm Springs City Council voted to ban loud ass gas-powered leaf blowers in the city Wednesday night.
The council had considered banning all leaf blowers, but didn’t because, well, it’s the Palm Springs City Council.

The council was swayed to allow battery powered leaf blowers by those in the landscaping industry who, according to the Desert Sun, presented arguments like, “You wouldn’t send a cardiovascular surgeon in to do surgery with a steak knife.”
And while I am not expert on cardiovascular surgeons, I am fairly certain that, yes, they do not perform surgeries with steak knives. But I am also certain that they don’t blow a patient’s blood all over their neighbor’s yard at 7am with a deafening leaf blower only to have another doctor blow it all back over the next day.
