Palm Desert woman charged in La Quinta slaying

A 32-year-old Palm Desert woman has been charged in connection with the murder of a man whose body was found in a trash can in front of a house a gated La Quinta neighborhood.

The criminal complaint alleges that Cristina Noelle Canimo used a knife, box cutter, screwdriver, and a hammer in teh crime. Charges include a special circumstance allegation of torture during the commission of a murder, making her eligible for the death penalty if the D.A. opts to pursue it.

Her arraignment is set for December 9 at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, according to KMIR.

Canimo was arrested one day following the discovery of the body last Thursday on east Parkway Esplanade.
