Palm Desert man arrested for fraud, also charged with bringing meth into jail

A Palm Desert man was arrested on Thursday after police say he was in possession of stolen checks that he attempted to cash.

Police responded to a business on Highway 111 in La Quinta a out 5:40 pm, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. David Guzman, 43, was taken into custody without incident. The investigation revealed Guzman was in possession of altered checks stolen from a residence in Palm Desert, one of which he attempted to cash.

Guzman was transported to the Smith Correctional Facility for booking. During the booking process, 18 grams of methamphetamine was located concealed on his person. Additional charges for bring methamphetamine into a jail facility were added.
