One dead in Thousand Palms crash

A Yucca Valley man is dead following a crash in Thousand Palms on Tuesday night.

The 56-year-old was driving a Nissan Sentra that slammed into the back of a parked big rig on Ramon Road about 10:45 pm.

The California Highway Patrol said in a statement (via KESQ) that he man was driving at a high rate of speed just west of Robert Road when he made an unsafe turning movement to the right of the street, where he hit the tractor-trailer.

The big rig driver was asleep in the truck at the time of the crash. HE was not injured.
