Off-duty deputy shoots, kills brother after he attacked relatives during family gathering in IE

A 28-year-old man was fatally shot by his brother, an off-duty San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputy, during a family gathering in Bloomington on Saturday.

Israel Miranda Jr., of Bloomington, was shot by his brother after police say an argument broke out in the front yard of the home on Magnolia Avenue and he attacked several family members with a knife, according to the Press Enterprise.

Police were called about 9:12 pm and arrived to find Miranda suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Miranda, according to police, was a parolee with a history of violence.

His brother was identified as Humberto Miranda, 26, of Fontana, a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy assigned to the Victorville station who was off-duty at the time.
