Mounted police are patrolling the Westfield Palm Desert parking lot during the Holidays

Since plenty of Americans lose their minds in parking lots this time of year, while others want to go full Grinch and steal your presents from your trunk while you shop, The Riverside County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse will be on hand for the next few weekend at the Westfield mall in Palm Desert to provide security in the parking lot, according to the Desert Sun.

The Palm Desert City Council set aside $1,500 for members of the Cabazon Station Mounted Posse to patrol – and dare we say regulating (mount up) – the parking lot of the mall on Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 18, notes the paper – which seems reasonable to keep things in order at the mall this crazy time of year.  Hell, the city probably could have given even more if not for that nearly $300,0000 they gave to a former employee accused of showing nude photos around the office earlier this year.

The mounted posse is a non-profit group of volunteers who dedicate their time to their communities and the Sheriff’s Department.  If you would like more information on joining, you can find that here.

And if you just want to ride animals at the mall, for some reason, you can do that too.
