Motorcyclists leads police on 140 mph pursuit through Yucca Valley

A man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after police say he led them on a high speed pursuit through Yucca Valley.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle, in front of Yucca Valley High School a little after 2 pm after the cyclist sped in front of the school and crossed over double yellow lines to pass a school bus, according to a news release.

The motorcyclist failed to yield and fled at high rate of speed, leading deputies on pursuit throughout the Morongo Basin. Authorities say the pursuit went on for 44 miles and saw the motorcyclist reach speeds of up to 140 mph before ending at the intersection of Indio Ave. and Buena Vista Dr. in Yucca Valley.

The motorcyclist, Ted Dumas, was arrested for felony evading.
