The mayor of Indio say he has no idea what’s going on in the city

(City of Indio)

Indio Mayor Michael Wilson took a break from Twitter to comment on a recent story about residents of his city and the City of Coachella being charged crazy high prosecution fees for seemingly small infractions and, well, his comments to the Desert Sun sure show a city leader paying close attention to what is going on in his town….

Dumb Borat jokes aside, here’s what the elected leader of the town had to say the newspaper about residents being forced by the city to pay thousands of dollars to independent prosecutors (emphasis by me).

“These are all initially fix-it tickets. And if the person cited fixes the issue, it goes away, simple as that,” Wilson said.

If they don’t, he argued, it shouldn’t fall on the public to pay for the costs associated with an ongoing legal process.

The city council, we don’t see any of this stuff or hear about this stuff until it becomes a story in the newspaper,” Wilson described the council’s role in the process.

Wow.  That’s really the type of leadership and accountability you look for in the leader of a city….

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Coachella has called for a public meeting on the issue, which will tonight at 5 pm in Coachella’s Veterans Memorial Park.

“I love that my constituents are engaged and wondering what is going on. I want to hear from you in person,” Hernandez said in a Facebook post.

Sounds like someone is actually busy being mayor, which is nice to hear.
