Man’s plan to rob Riverside bank by spitting gasoline fails

Riverside Police are looking for a man they say attempted to rob a Riverside bank on Thursday by handing the teller a note, then spitting gasoline.

The man entered the Altura Credit Union on 14th Street at about 4:20 pm, reports The Press Enterprise. He handed the teller a note demanding money, then put a filled with gasoline in his mouth, and began to spit it out towards the teller.

The bank teller was protected by a glass barrier. The man also poured gasoline on the counter, before leaving without any money.

Police were searching the area with a helicopter – but, as of 5 pm, had not yet found the suspect.
